What are some of the benefits of a small assisted living/ personal care home? 

There are a number of benefits to a small home.  It is not institutional feeling. A  family home with a  higer personal level of care and not intimidating and cold like the larger facilities. 

Does the Home require a medical assessment?
A medical analysis from a physician is required prior to admission of any resident.

What if my loved one requires hospitalization, and then, after discharge, some rehabilitation/therapy?

We work closely with home health agencies in the area.Upon a doctor's recommendation, the agency of your choice or we can give you a list will come to the home, assess the resident's needs, and perform these services in our home. Often, this is paid for under the resident's Medicare/Insurance benefits.

What will my health care insurance cover while staying at this home?
Your health care insurance should continue to provide the same benefits related to hospital and doctor visits and doctor prescribed medications and health aids.

What are some options that are available for payment of fees?     

• Long Term Care Insurance

• Attendant Benefits from Veterans Healthcare Administration (applies to spouses too)

• Private Funds/ Social Security/Reverse Mortgages

How many meals are included in the basic monthly fee?
We provided three nutritious meals daily in our dining room and snacks between meals. Special diet requirements are not included in the monthly fee.

Do the monthly fees include medical equipment?
No.

Is there a complaint or grievance procedure?
The director personally addresses all issues with the resident and/or the resident’s family.

What safety measures are in place? Fire extinguishers are wall mounted throughout the home. Smoke detectors that are hard wired and installed throughout the home. Monitored Fire Alarms/Sprinkler systems and smoke detectors and a Hood Supression System in the kitchen.

Does the home have handicap access and accommodations?
The home is wheelchair accessible with wheelchair ramps at the front and back and side entrances. Bathrooms are equipped with  wheelchair accessible commodes with grab bars, sinks, showers and tubs  with bathchairs and grab bars. We are licensed to take wheelchair and ambulatory residents.

Are pets allowed?
No.

Do you perform criminal background checks on all staff?                       

Definitely, along with a misconduct registry check.

Is there a list of Resident’s Rights?
Each resident will receive a list of Resident’s Rights.

Does the monthly fees include prescription/over the counter or any drugs?
No.

Is smoking allowed?
We are a non smoking house however smoking is only allowed on the front porch.

Is transportation provided?
No. But we can arrange it for you when necessary.

 What type of bedrooms are available. We have either private or semi-private  bedrooms. Sunny big rooms with views.

Are the rooms furnished?

We have furnished and unfurnished rooms.

Is any of the rent or community fee refunded?
No as we can have more than one resident pass in a month.

Does the facility accept Hospice residents?

Yes.

 Is Lakehouse On Dixie a medical facility?

No. We are a personal care home/small type B assisted living and are not a medical facility.
